Following the completion of aground breaking NFL season and an equally exciting season for Fantasy Football League players, DimeSports.net (www.dimesports.net) today announced the top prize winners from its inaugural season. Its top prize winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd Place winners) took home $175,000 in total prize money. Following just its inaugural year DimeSports.net is now recognized as one of the most lucrative site forFFL players. According to Rob Braddy, President of DimeSports.net, more than 1,250 members signed up this year from places as far away as Australia and Canada. In Atlanta this week, Braddy presented the top prize winners with a check presentation. The video of the check presentation can be viewed here where a complete list of winners and their prizes were identified:

-- 1st Place: Jarrod West (W. Virginia) -- Prize: $100,000

-- 2nd Place: Lloyd Matt (Andover, MN) -- Prize: $50,000

-- 3rd Place: Dean Schmidt (Atlanta, Georgia) -- Prize: $25,000

Going into his third year as a FFL player, First Place winner Jarrod "Nolimit" West had mostly competed in local tournaments. He said he decided totry DimeSports.net when he saw the low entry fee ($49), along with the verylucrative first place prize of $100,000, and weekly cash prizes of up to$2,000.

West says he was also attracted by the many innovations found on theDimeSports.net website, such as timely and up-to-date news from around the league, free Message Boards and Forums, a generous $50 million salary cap, no draft restrictions -- any active NFL player selected by DimeSports could be on your dream team, and freedom to juggle weekly roster through cuts and trades.

DimeSports.net also featured a weekly column from Shannon Sharpe called"Play Em...Who's Hot; Sit Em...Not This Week," where Sharpe provided insightful commentary on players to watch and discussed the pros and cons ofpotential trades.

"After I started the first week in 2nd place and then ran off a string of weekly first place finishes, I began to feel like I had a shot," said FirstPlace winner West. West talked about the hours of time it takes to compete in Fantasy Football, from studying injury updates, reviewing weather reports, following gametime decisions, and more. He explained that the season tightenedup around weeks 6 - 12, when competition began to take more chances, but saidvictory was sealed when he made a risky late-season roster move to "dropPatriots receiver Randy Moss for Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald."

On the DimeSports.net Forums section this week players continue to ring inwith positive commentary about the functionality of the site, its rules and game play. Others mentioned that guaranteeing the prize money is a huge attraction for even the very best league players.

Second place finisher Lloyd "LRMIII" Matt who took home $50,000, commented that playing DimeSports.net was easily the most fun he has had in FF. He also commented that "It was nice not to be subjected to injuries or bad years from players that you would have normally drafted. In other big money contests ifyou have the bad luck of a season ending injury, it could easily wreck your FFseason."

DimeSports.net recently started a Forum to collect ideas for next seasonand is asking current and prospective players to give their thoughts on ways to improve the site and their experience. Braddy is also encouraging fantasyleaguers to get in the game early for next year by signing up for theDimeSports.net newsletter, or by becoming an affiliate and receiving 10% offthe sign-up for each referral. More details are available here. Those who sign up for the newsletter will get notice of an upcoming reduced fee period for next season along withinsider information on new player moves, impact of draft, and other important developments. "Our goal is to make DimeSports.net the first stop for Fantasy Leaguers and continue to offer the most lucrative prizes and the greatest overall experience," said Braddy.

Dimesports.net Fantasy Football Year in Review

The Year in Review
By The Mayor

Welcome back! The Mayor is rested and back for another year of fantasy football. I guess the first lesson learned is that anything can happen and nothing is for certain, just ask Eli. So I decided to share with you some of my thoughts before we get started on the 2008 season because fantasy football is a year long job for the Mayor. Never have I seen a fantasy season that was dominated by quarterbacks rather than running backs. LT, LJ and Steven Jackson took a back seat to Tom Brady, Peyton manning, Bret Farve and Derek Anderson….Derek Anderson? That’s right, the old guard of fantasy football is getting ready to receive a transfusion of players like Derek Anderson, Marshawn Lynch, Braylon Edwards and Ryan Grant. Are they one hit wonders or the next level of stars in the NFL?

We also had a year where we saw more offensive points from the Cleveland Browns than we did from a Mike Martz controlled Lions offense (I got burned by Kitna!). However, in Dallas, Romo to TO did not disappoint. The best receiver in the league was worth the price of admission in Big D but no one ever thought the new version of the triplets would be in Cleveland!

Unless you were living under a rock, you found out that the sooner you grab a skill position from the Patriots, the better your chances were for victory…just so long as you don’t grab a running back cause the name of the game in Boston for most of the season was pass, pass and pass again. Brady was Mr. Thanksgiving for hungry owners this year. With a team of receivers like Moss, Welker and Stallworth, Brady rewrote single season records and contributed to many bank accounts across the country.

This year’s “Still Got It” award goes to Bret Farve, Jamal Lewis and Fred Taylor. These three players proved they still had a lot left in the tank. I almost hate to doubt if Bret will come back again because he was simply on fire this year. The Browns just gave Jamal a new contract and Taylor went to his first Pro Bowl. Maybe life does begin at 30? Somebody call Bam Morris???

What’s up with Reggie? I don’t know about you but Bush single handedly dealt a death blow to my squad. He’s on the verge of being a big hype instead of a big deal. This is your third year Mr. Bush. It’s time to earn your money on the field. I know The Mayor won’t be pulling the trigger on you this season.

Then you had the welcome party for “AP”. Adrian Peterson was the absolute truth out there for running backs. This guy will be the number 1 or 2 pick in all fantasy drafts this year no matter the format. He will not be a one hit wonder. Make way for the new kid on the block.

All and all, we had a good first year here at Dimesports and we’re ready to follow up with an even better season. Stay tuned to the website as we will continue to be an important part of your off season intelligence, peppering you with informative bits of updates, strategies and latest from the NFL.
